About Us

Geokno is the brainchild of transformative thinkers from IIT Kanpur who embarked on a journey to leverage the power of LiDAR technology to provide smart, tangible and scalable solutions for clients across industries.

The small-knitted team of young researches, along with their faculty members incubated the company on the IITK campus in 2009. Today, Geokno is driven by industry experts with decades of experience in capturing, processing and analyzing LiDAR data. Looking to mature LiDAR technology in India, GMR Group, one of the largest developers in India, acquired the majority stake in Geokno in 2012. With our expertise and passion, combined with the strength of the GMR group, we have evolved as a premier firm in the Geospatial Domain.

At Geokno, we specialize in delivering High-Resolution Aerial Imagery and LiDAR mapping services across India and globally. We focus on bringing unique & evidence-based solutions with an open and collaborative approach to our client's projects. Geokno is at the forefront of the spatial technology revolution, building 3D digital visual representation by mapping real world environments.

We deploy LiDAR systems embedded on airplanes, helicopters or vehicles that enable acquistion of dense and georeferenced XYZ point cloud. Advanced LiDAR systems capture 360 degree aerial images to create accurate & detailed virtual road maps backed by the geospatial data to help our customers with faster and improved decision making.

Geokno's LiDAR mapping technology offers the benefits of acquiring quick, reliable and accurate data of a large area of land. Our high-end systems provide extensive & detailed aerial surveys at any desired resolution, region or topography for multi-sector clientele.

Meet The Team

K Narayana Rao is a Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant, Company Secretary and Management Accountant with over 28 years of experience. He also serves as Group Deputy Managing Director, Corporate Relations, GMR Group. He is a member in the Managing Committee of ASSOCHAM, FICCI, Indian Sugar Mills Association, South India Sugar Mills Association and AP Distillery Association.

Bhaskar Bodapatti has 33 years’ industry experience in diverse sectors spanning Airports, Infrastructure, Health Care, Manufacturing, Engineering, Research & Development, Software Development & Services etc. in India and overseas. He started his career as a Management trainee with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and also had a stint at the India High Commission in London. Thereafter he worked with Shetron Limited as Vice President, with Microland as Financial Controller, with Kirby Building Systems Limited as Vice President, with 7 Hills Business Solutions as Vice President, with Opto Circuits India Limited as Group CFO. His last assignment was with Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) as Senior Director (Finance & Support Services) & Head of BIAL Executive Committee. Mr. Bhaskar also serves as Chief Executive Officer- Properties, GMR Group.

He is a graduate in commerce from Karnataka University and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Mani Santosh Bommidala, aged about 27 years is Group Holding Board Member of GMR Group. Currently, he holds Directorship on the Board of JSW GMR Cricket Private Limited, GMR Technologies Private Limited & GMR Ambala-Chandigarh Expressways Private Limited. Mani Santosh holds a bachelor’s degree in Major International Business from Pepperdine University, Malibu, USA. He did his schooling from Mallya Aditi International School, Bangalore & Sishya School, Chennai. He has good knowledge in Information Technology, Airports, Telecommunications, Automobile, Building Solutions and Real Estate sectors and has expertise Knowledge in the sales, finance, mergers & acquisitions, and strategy functions.

Since the past decade, Dr. Bharat Lohani have been promoting Geokno which he co-founded in IIT Kanpur for providing LiDAR based solutions to government and industry in India. With 20 years of experience in LiDAR & Geospatial domain and as a pioneer of LiDAR in India he has guided Geokno to be a Leader in LiDAR technology.

PhD In Remote Sensing: University of Reading, UK, ME Photogrammetric Engg. & Remote Sensing: IIT Kanpur.He has also been an IIT Professor at IIT Kanpur.

Balaji is an experienced entrepreneur, currently working on new age technologies and building sustainable businesses. He founded Geokno, an IIT Kanpur spinoff and over the last decade has been key in developing LiDAR market in India and establishing Geokno as a market leader in LiDAR business.

Pankaj has 28+years Meritorious Services in Indian Army with Senior Leadership Positions for 10+ years including Director Info Tech (Country Role), Director Info Systems (Two Regional Roles) and Head of ICT Unit in Ladakh Sector. He has a 3+ years’ experience in GIS industry in the current role. Pankaj has a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications, an M. Tech (Computer Science & Engineering) from IIT Madras and a master’s degree in Business Administration from ICFAI. He is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from PMI, USA.
He has proven successes in operation and maintenance of ICT networks, rollout of greenfield ICT projects, undertaking risky projects in hard field areas, budget and expenditure management at ministry levels, conceptualizing RFPs of projects and conversion to successful implementation Contracts, Large scale project/contract implementation/governance and implementation of tailor-made SW applications.

Dinesh Babu is a Geospatial Data Scientist with 5+ years of working experience in Geo-Statistical modelling. Earlier, he was associated with French National Institute of Geography and Forest Information (French Mapping Agency) in Paris as Research Scientist for a period of 4 years. During his tenure he has undertaken research projects in collaboration with Forest companies and government. He developed new forest inventory methods involving satellite data and LiDAR. He also worked as Business Head for Zmaps Geospatial India Private Ltd at Chennai for a period of 1 year. He started his career with Geokno India Pvt Ltd “as Business Development Team Lead in IIT Kanpur.

Amit is a Business Development professional with 18 years of rich experience with companies like Tridex Inc., Genesys International, and Mapmyindia. Amit is with Geokno for last seven years where he is spearheading Sales and Marketing Initiatives . His focus area includes 3D LiDAR, DPR, and Mobile LiDAR across industries, some of them include Smart Cities, Urban Development, Forestry, Airports, Irrigation & Water Resources, and Disaster Management. He holds a degree in Computer Science along with an MBA in Marketing from University of Pune.
