Honorable Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh unveils 3D Virtual Model of IITK and SERE developed by Geokno

Geokno is pleased to announce that the 3D Virtual Model of IIT Kanpur and Solar Energy Research Enclave developed by Geokno was launched today, i.e. 3 July 2010, by Honorable Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, during his visit to IIT Kanpur. This model was created using Laser Scanning data and satellite images and shows airstrip, academic area, hostels, and finally the location and design for SERE.

Geokno (www.geokno.com) is an incubatee company at IIT Kanpur promoted by the faculty members and young researchers from Geoinformatics Laboratory. Geokno specializes in collecting 3D data of terrain using Laser Scanning technologies from airborne and ground based sensors. Geokno uses these data for various verticals like, 3D city modeling, mapping extreme terrains and structures like sites for railway corridors, hydro power sites, inaccessible places, large area survey, tall structures, archaeological monuments, etc. Geokno also develops algorithms and software products for efficient use of Laser Scanning and Photographic data for improving productivity. Geokno finally brings all collected data in a WebGIS system for dissipation and use by a large array of stakeholders.
